What is Handmade Lampwork Glass Jewellery?
Lampwork glass jewellery is created by hand using centuries old techniques of melting coloured glass rods in a high temperature gas torch.
The molten glass is wound around a steel rod mixing different colours and introducing other materials into the mix, such as precious metals, to create beads for bracelets or pendants.
After the bead is completed and solidified, it goes into a kiln at a lower temperature to anneal or stress relieve it to prevent cracking. Annealing increases the strength and durability of the glass.
