Masonic rings and jewellery are worn the world over as a symbol of recognition that the wearer belongs to the order of Freemasons.
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations and members are expected to be of high moral standing, whose values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness.
The symbolism is mainly, but not exclusively, drawn from the manual tools of stonemasons - the square and compass, the level and plumb rule, the trowel, among others.
The Square and Compass is the single most identifiable symbol of Freemason jewellery. Both the square and compass are architect's tools and are used in Masonic ritual as emblems to teach symbolic lessons.
A true Masonic signet ring was originally used as a seal for letters and documents to validate the authenticity of its owner however, with the need for sealing letters with wax and a stamp diminishing over time, modern day rings tend to be flatter with less raised detail.
'Signet' means that the ring contains a small symbol, sign or a signature to officially stamp or mark the documents and and rings have been a part of religion in many cultures throughout history for centuries.
Some Odissa designers can offer to make your ring, pendant, cufflinks etc., from your own sentimental scrap gold. Please contact to check suitability.
All rings can be personalised further with the addition of engraving on the inside or outside of the ring. If the option isn't shown, please do not hesitate to ask. With laser engraving especially, the choice is limitless with thousands of font styles and even own handwriting or graphics.
