Essemgé

Bonjour,

I am Sophie, the designer-maker behind the award winning jewellery label Essemgé.

Essemgé stands for ‘SMG’, my initials in French.

Conscious of today’s busy lifestyles andwork environments, I create pieces that are versatile and practical yet eye-catching and inspiring. They give you choices of how to wear them.

I draw inspiration from my experiences and surroundings.

In my earlier coporate career, I realised that every successful woman has a signature style that is unique to her. Jewellery is an essential part of it. It make her feel polished, confident and empowered, ready to take on the challenges of a fast-paced work place.

My aim is to serve you with quality jewellery essentials that are quietly sophisticated and timeless. Perfect for those who favour style and soul over fashion, and buy their own pieces. I absolutely love what I do - knowing that a piece of jewellery that I have designed is giving you that confident boost and glow to help you realise your portential.

The surroundings of South East London where I have my studio, have also influenced my designs. The mix of urban, industrial and maritime heritage has created a visually striking landscape, where order meets chaos, old meets new, shiny meets rusty, established meets upcoming. It is the ideal backdrop to feed my imagination.

My other passions include

drawing, watercolour painting, antiques/vintage hunting/collecting, restoring/diy amongst many more! They have contributed to inform my jewellery designs and aesthetics.

Jewellery is highly individual. For each of my creations I strive at making it the best, that is the one that looks good on you.

All the pieces are sustainably designed and lovingly handmade in the UK.

We take pride in our attention to detail and quality of work while using only great materials sourced in the UK.

Bespoke jewellery and commissioned work are also welcome.

Forget Fashion, Embrace Style !

The Shift in Global Marketplaces

What's been quietly lost in the rush to scale.

Loss of Originality

Large online marketplaces have shifted toward mass-produced, generic, factory-line products, making it difficult to find unique, handmade items.

Quality Concerns

Relaxed verification standards on major platforms have led to issues with material integrity, such as fake silver, cheap base metals, and chipping platings.
