Circinn (Scotland) Ltd.

Who we are

Circinn Studio was founded on a basis of mixing Art with Engineering. We mix old technologies with new – hand drawing alongside Computer Aided Design, hand-carved wax models are made along with 3D printed prototypes. What began as a small Engineering workshop with over 20 years of experience grew into something else. We realised that by adding the beauty and style of artistic designs to the precision of our manufacturing, we could create unique pieces that we could love and be proud of.  We hope you love them too. Feel free to check out our designs, or to get in touch and tell us what you think.

What we believe

Jewellery should be beautiful

We believe that true beauty comes from precision. Perfect symmetry. Clean lines. Proportions exactly measured and applied.

Jewellery should tell a story

The story can be overt, obvious. Some of our designs have colourful stories behind them, like our thistle and kelpie designs. The story can also be subtle. Maybe you see a piece that represents something in yourself – the clarity of a diamond, the purity of a simple gold necklace, the understated nature of white gold.

Jewellery should be personal to you

This is one of the many reasons we make our pieces to order. For some pieces, we have hallmarked raw castings to hand, ready to refine and polish into finished items. For the rest, we don’t pour the metal until you hit the order button. Your piece doesn’t exist until you tell us you want it. Whatever you order, you ring, your bracelet, your necklace… its story starts with you.

Beautiful work shouldn’t be limited to just artistry

We don’t believe that Jewellery should be just an artistic endeavour. We mix Art, Computer Aided Design, 3D Printing Prototyping, Engineering, Craftsmanship, and any other skillset we can find and learn, to pour into our work. Our mission is to blend old and new technologies and techniques into our design and manufacture process. It’s an ever-evolving journey, and it means we are always learning, always experimenting, and, hopefully, always innovating.

Charlie McManus

3D Design, 3D Printing, Casting and Technology

Charlie McManus has been an Engineer for over 20 years. He worked in Radar test research and development, and in software/hardware integration and development in a variety of industries. His work has taken him from Scotland to Europe, the Americas, and as far as South-East Asia. His first exposure to 3D design was in the early 90s, as was his first foray into metal casting. A lifelong learner, he constantly researches and educates himself on the latest technical innovations in the jewellery industry, as well as learning the older techniques, such as gem setting, from the very best experts he can find.

Becky McManus

Artistic Design, Benchwork, Final Finishing and Photography

Becky McManus has been designing jewellery since her schooldays. Very much the artistic half of the partnership, her original drawings are the basis of all the designs available from Circinn Studio. Becky has spent the last few years sharpening her jewellery bench skills by learning from the very best in the industry. The fine finish on all pieces from Circinn Studio come from Becky’s meticulous attention to detail. Becky also turned her lifelong photography hobby into a cornerstone of the content that fills this website.

Hallmarked at Edinburgh Assay Office

When it comes to manufacturing jewellery and silverware, precious metals (silver, palladium, gold and platinum) are rarely used in their purest form. Instead they are usually alloyed with lesser metals in order to achieve a desired strength, durability, and colour.

It is not possible to detect the precious metal content of an item by sight or by touch. It is, therefore, a legal requirement to hallmark all items consisting of silver, palladium, gold or platinum (subject to certain exemptions) if they are to be described as such.

All of our items are assayed (tested) and hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office and we are an Assay Assured Jewellery Retailer. Assay Assured status is only given to retailers who have been independently audited and verified by the Edinburgh Assay Office, and ensures that all precious metal jewellery (including items exempt by weight) is of the claimed standard – a protection over and above legal requirements.

In most cases, our pieces are made to order. Once you have completed your online purchase, your job will go in our workshop queue. This typically takes 2-3 weeks, depending on the time of year. We will send an email confirmation containing details of your order, and the expected date of dispatch. DELIVERY

We deliver to Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland addresses free of charge. Orders outside of these areas will be quoted at checkout. At the time of ordering you will be advised of an approximate delivery estimate. Every effort is made to meet this delivery time although on rare occasions we may be unable to deliver your order within the advertised timeframe. Should this happen we will notify you of the delay and offer a revised delivery estimate. Delivery times may also be affected by circumstances beyond our control. Where a delivery time is quoted in days, this refers to ‘working days’ defined as Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) when ordering before 1pm. If you decide to return your full order for a refund, any delivery charges paid will only be reimbursed if the item has been misrepresented by us or is damaged/faulty. It should be noted that earrings, for hygiene reasons, cannot be returned and refunded unless the item has been misrepresented by us or is damaged/faulty. The only exception to this is if you have paid for Next Day Delivery and we have failed to meet the promised delivery date.

OUR GUARANTEE TO YOU

We believe that all of our products are of the highest quality and will guarantee everything against manufacturing defects. It should be noted that all pieces are hand finished, leading to an individual look for every item. Please be advised that if you have your item altered, repaired, or adjusted by another jeweller or company, then this will invalidate your guarantee and render it void. To protect the guarantee, all work must be carried out by Circinn (or a third party company working on behalf of Circinn).
