Rough morganite pendant, set in sterling silver and 9ct rose gold

Since I started making jewellery I have been learning about where gemstones come from. Seeing them in their rough forms helps us to understand their history. This mini-collection of rough gems set in sterling silver and 9 carat rose gold celebrates that history, and demonstrates their inherent beauty. Set in sterling silver with rose gold tendrils, these light and delicate pendants are an ideal conversation starter.

This rough morganite pendant measures around 70mm in length, with a maximum width of just under 30mm. The morganite crystal measures 28 mm long by 15mm wide, and the total depth is around 12mm. The pendant is mounted on a 22 inch (55 cm) loose hammered trace chain, with a carabiner catch. It weighs approx 13g in total. This is a one off piece.

Morganite is a member of the beryl family, and a relative of emerald and aquamarine. It is a beautiful pale pink colour, ideal for summer, and in this piece is brought to life by the rose gold surrounding it.
