A signet ring was commonly used, traditionally, as a way of signing a document by pressing the ring into molten wax. The plinth of the ring was usually engraved with a coat of arms or initials and gave proof as to the authenticity of the document. Technology has virtually destroyed that tradition for using the ring but the idea lives on as a decorative and highly personalised item of jewellery. Heraldic designs, masonic, initials, coat of arms, your company logo, any design can be incorporated into the ring in either 2D or 3D.
