Sterling silver tourmaline pendant, with cut and rough tourmaline - yellow

This sterling silver tourmaline pendant shows off both the faceted (cut) and crystalline (rough) forms of tourmaline nicely, reminding us that all the sparkly, cut gemstones that we are used to seeing originally come from a crystal formed deep in the earth. It is a delicate, light little pendant, and easy to wear. Tourmaline is an incredibly versatile material, which forms in a gorgeous range of colours. Here the simple sterling silver setting shows off some of the colours in this limited range of pendants.

The crystalline gem measures approx 8 by 5mm, with the little faceted gemstone just 2.5mm diameter. The total length of the set piece comes to around 20mm and the width 8mm. It is around 5mm deep. It is mounted on a 16 inch (40 cm) belcher chain, and weighs approx 3g. Each of these tourmaline pieces are unique, but made in a similar style to others within the small range (as seen in my listings).

Tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October.
